Nature

Liptov is considered the most beautiful region of Slovakia. The mountains and untouched nature of Nizke Tatry, Veľka Fatra and Chočske vrchy are hikers’ paradise . You can explore bike trails, caves in Demänovska dolina, waterfall Lúčky and Prosiecka dolina.

Fishermen have plenty of opportunities in dam Liptovska Mara, river Váh and local brooks.

History

Liptov has contributed to older and recent history of Slovakia as well. Many sites offer insight into the history of region. You can visit Muzeum of Liptove village in Pribylina, Articular church in Sväty Kríž, Vlkolínec – national reservation of folk architecture protected by UNESCO, keltic archeological open-air folk museum Havránok, historical centers city Ruzomberok, Liptovský Mikuláš and Liptovský Hrádok, as well as historical village Partizánska Ľupča . Culture and Folklore

Folklore has a long tradition in the region of Liptov where several folklore festivals are organized annually; most of them in summer months. The most famous ones are the Folklore festival in Východna and in Liptovske Sliače.
Summer concerts, theater performances, fairs and many other events are organized throughout the year for visitors of Liptov.
